DIY UPCYCLE: T-SHIRT STOOL UPHOLSTERY

GETTING STARTED

Remember the vintage Stones tee you thrifted 10 years ago? Or that intramural volleyball shirt you can’t seem to part with? If it’s still sitting at the bottom of your drawer, perhaps now is the time to give it a permanent spot in your house. For this t-shirt upcycle upholstery project, you’ll need an Arrow PT50 pneumatic staple gun or an Arrow T50ACD compact electric staple gun, any stool, and a T-shirt with some sentimental value.

Scissors
 Utility knife
 Marker

T50 staples
 Stool
 T-shirt
 Adhesive spray
 Foam cushion

PROJECT VIDEO

START UPHOLSTERING

STEP 1
Place your stool upside down on top of the foam cushion and trace the outline of the seat using your marker.

STEP 2
With the utility knife, cut out the foam cushion you outlined.

STEP 9
Once the framed pegboard is securely in place, it’s time to decorate! Additional pegboard hooks can be purchased from home improvement stores or online. This is the perfect time to put your own special touch on the project.

STEP 3
Spray the top of the stool and the bottom of the foam cushion with spray adhesive, then stick the cushion onto the seat of the stool. Use the utility knife to create a beveled edge along the top of the cushion, smoothing out the foam.

STEP 4
Now that the cushion is on, stretch your T-shirt over the cushion – pulling it tight and avoiding wrinkles – and staple it to the bottom of the stool seat. We used a PT50 pneumatic staple gun, but the T50ACD compact electric staple gun will get the job done too!
